the answer is in the physics of a rocket engine. in a (as in the shuttle) convergant divergant nozzle rocket. the fuel is mixed and burned on one side of a throat, inside of a chamber that can be thaught of as two bells touching at the top. the burning creates pressure and the pressure is exhausted through the other bell housing (the one you see on the bottom of the shuttle). the exhausting gas is super-sonic (and in some cases hyper-sonic). this happens when the high pressure gas travels through the throat and is compressed while flowing through it (this is part of rockets called compressible flow) and exactly (or near enough to exactly as anyone really cares) at the throat, the flow reaches mach 1. after that point, the flow is ejected from the other bell housing and it's rapid speed is what is used to make the space ship fly. the speed is needed, because the faster you make an object move, the more energy it has (and the more useable energy). if the burned gas was exiting the rocket at 2 mph, it would certainly have energy, but we couldn't use it (low quality of energy). this imense speed allows for easy access to the gas's energy as it moves away from the ship (because if you push on an object, you move away from the object, and it moves away from you; every action has an equal an oposite reaction). the rocket essentially pushes on the gas, exiting the ship, to propel itself in the oposite direction.

Because its the type of fuel that a rocket would need because in rockets you need fast fuel right? And hydrogen is that fast fuel!

There is no oxygen in space. In order to burn the fuel, you have to have oxygen. However there are some propellents that don't use oxygen but other chemical reactions.
rocket fuel requires oxygen to work, and space has a noted lack of oxygen.

The oxygen is needed to support combustion. In outer space, there's very little oxygen, so it's impossible to sustain a combustion reaction unless you provide your own oxidizer, and oxygen happens to be a great oxidizer.

Combustion of hydrogen fuel requires oxygen and there is none in space.By compressing oxygen into liquid state makes it easier for transportation and upon combustion,it will produce water in which the astronauts drink in space.

The main reason Liquid hydrogen is used in liquid rockets has to do with its energy density per unit weight.hydrogen and oxygen fuel has the best energy density versus the weight of the fuel of any chemical fuels in use. The disadvantage is the fuel and oxidizer occupy i large volume which adds to the weight of the vehicle. because of this it makes more sense to choose other fuels for some rockets

Have you noticed how a pound of steam takes up a lot more space than a pound

of water does ? To put it another way, if you want to move a ton of H2O from one

place to another, it's a lot more convenient to transport water than steam, because

you can do that with a much smaller tank.

That's the reason why ships from the Middle East bring stove gas to the USA in the

form of 'LNG' ... Liquified natural gas ... and the reason that the US Post Office and

some larger cities have converted their trucks and buses to run on L NG. It's exactly

the same story with oxygen.

The Solid Rocket Boosters - SRBs - provide high, steady thrust to launch the Shuttle from the Earth. But if all they had were the solid rockets, they would always end up in exactly the same orbit.

The liquid fuel main engines - and the massive External Tank - provide the ability of the Shuttle to regulate the thrust, to apply more or less power at each stage of the mission, and maneuver in orbit. But the liquid fuel main engines doesn't provide enough energy at liftoff.

In tandem, the two systems give them the high and constant thrust at takeoff while retaining the ability to have variable thrust once off the ground.

Because liquid fueled rockets have higher specific impulse then solid rockets, and they are capable of being throttled, shut down, and restarted. Only combustion chambers of a liquid-fueled rocket need to withstand high combustion pressures and temperatures.

Hydrogen is experimented in year 7 as the pop test because after we put light (fire) close to it. The more the liquid the louder the pop and makes the rocket shoot up into the air.
