Amazon: in south America, roughly 4,000mi long, starts in the Andes mountains and runs through 5 countries-Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Columbia and Brazil, runs west to east and drains in the Atlantic Ocean

Nile: in Africa, primary source is the White Nile, secondary source is the Blue Nile, runs south to north through 11 countries-Ethiopia, Sudan, south Sudan, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, democratic republic of the Congo, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Eritrea, drains into the Mediterranean Sea. Approx. 4,132 mi long. Considered longest in the world, however further testing of the Amazon river may prove the Nile is in fact the second longest in the world.
