That is an easy one. YOU protect your civil liberties. And yours friends, and their friends, and me and my friends. It's for certain that the government is bent on taking AWAY your civil liberties. Remember Lincoln's famous quotation? "Government of the people for the people and BY THE PEOPLE

There is no protection of civil liberties. They can be taken away by social or government action at any time. This may be demonstrated by the treatment of citizens of America, Canada and Australia (all democracies) who confiscated the good of and imprisoned citizens who se ancestors originated in foreign countries at war with the democracies in world war two. In today's world citizens of "suspect" racial, religious or philosophical positions are given less protection by the law, less education and less opportunity. In short less in the way of civil liberty.
