How can I save the selected page contents to a notepad. I want to use the script which enables me to select-copy and save to text file with single stroke?

You're going to have to make use of a proprietary technology. JavaScript alone doesn't have the rights to access your local drive, and therefore cannot save to a file on your local machine.
You might want to look into ActionScript (part of Adobe Flash) or a browser specific plugin written in a higher level language (the kind of thing Firefox does.)
