it is possible that maybe an electrical switch may be connected to the emergency brake and it is gone bad and won't send a message to where it needs to go to let the car know that the brake is off, or maybe there is something keeping the brake handle from going all the way down and keeping the light on. just a hint. these new cars are strange the way they are made. switches and sensors are famous on these new vehicles. The engines might run the vehicle, but computer and wires and switches and sensors, are a big part of that make up too. Also possible, if the cable is pulled too tight, and has stretched, the cable might not be releasing enough to turn the light off. hope some of this is helpful, if not . Hope you get a better answer.
