Many many ways! For one, a child is a link between your blood lines. You have a biological connection. A child can stregnthen a relationship because now you have more to care about than yourselves. You wouldn't think about divorce as easily if there were a child involved so chances are a little better that couples will work out the problems. When a child is first born, there is a lot of stress for both mom and dad. Be understanding of that so it doesn't hurt the relationship and baby doesn't stress out. By 3 months, they can feel hostility or happiness from their parents and it will effect their development. Once mom is healed and can resume sexual relations with dad, that can really help a marraige. Hopefully there will always be time for a good romp, even if you aren't in the mood, it helps the psychological relationship of both partners. Very important: Be sure to get away from the baby as a couple when the baby is old enough to leave for an hour or two (about 6 months old). Couples need alone time to reconnect, otherwise everything is about the baby and when that baby grows up and moves out.....there is no marraige. You'd be suprised at how many couples divorce after the last kid moves out.

If you and your lesbian partner have a child will it help your relationship?

If your relationship is shaky, then having a child will probably not make it stronger. You should work on your relationship first, to see if you both want it to continue, and then work on things to strengthen it. Having a child is a serious business and will take up the next eighteen years of your life. So you need a good partner who's with you all the way in this.
