Just getting away from the abuse alive IS winning against an abuser. much blessings It's not a war. It's a relationship. A bad one. Your goal isn't necessarily to win. It's to survive, move on and succeed in life. None of this is as easy as it sounds, but ... If you live together, you need to move out. If you are just dating, you need to cease contact. You can think about revenge or (in your words) "no matter what it takes" as much as you want. Sometimes that helps. But do NOT actually seek revenge or do anything that may get you into trouble down the line. Your plan should involve ways to remove yourself from the abuser. Not ways to "fix" the abuser, try to force him to change, or make them suffer. If you have insurance and can afford to, seek therapy. If you can't afford traditional therapy, look into local free or non-profit groups for battered women. Read books on abuse and recovery. Join an online support group for victims of abuse. You need to start planning ways to get away from the abuser. You need a safe place to go to (and a safe place to live), emotional support and resources to help you succeed in life (getting a job or a new job, receiving job training, etc.). Community resources are a great place to start. Check your local phone book or call the National Domestic Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE. By the way, success is the best revenge. ~ T
