Check your car handbook. A light suggests fault in the power steering. Old cars required oil, so if it is an old car check the power steering oil, but new cars have electric power steering so could be the fuse or the sensor. In any case it needs attention and will not be safe to drive

No. Put in power steering fluid.
Short answer is no. Long answer is yes if you let it run out of water and ruin the engine causing it to not work to turn the power steering pump! If you are having an issue with hard steering check the belt adjustment to power steering pump to see if it is loose and check the power steering pump oil reservoir for proper oil level. These are common things that need to be checked on a regular basis anyway.
The hydraulic seals in your power steering will be eaten away by engine oil. Your power steering will start to leek and eventually, it will not work at all.

No. Get the Pentosin CHF 7.1 and CHF 11S fluids or Audi VW power steering hydraulic fluid part number G 002 000 or you may want Bilstein 08972. It is a select non-synthetic hydraulic steering fluid which has similar properties to CHF 11S with the exception of synthetic mineral oil blend vs non-synthetic mineral oil blend and thus, should be changed more frequently.
