Best resources of the manager for a company is the employees other than the materials.
There are always opportunities for managers to motivate employees and ensure that they feel empowered and 'part of the team'. This responsibility, should it be respected, will ultimately mean that the employees meet its goals and succeed in the marketplace. However, it can often be a challenge for a manager who might have to deal with a range of employees, and not be able to perform the leadership style which they would best respond to. A business that needs a rapid culture change will have to use an autocratic style of leadership, which would allow the manager to make changes that will help the business quickly. These developments, however, may not be favourable for the employees and hence it can be a huge challenge for the manager to maintain stability within the organisation at this point.
The way to motivate others to achieve their personal best is to first show them your trying to achieve your best. And then give them positive reinforcement and encouragement rather than a negative approach.
x= people are lazy and must be motivated and closely supervised Y= people want to do a good job, try to avoid doing things thad kill that motivation. A theory X manager with theory Y subordinates will soon beat the motivation out of them, thus proving to himself that he was right all along. A theory Y manager will eventually figure out that a theory X subordinate thinks all people are lazy because that subordinate is lazy himself. Thus, teams are best structured with all X of all Y types. The Y teams will consistently outperform the X teams.

Maslow's hierarchy of needs is of great importance in the HR/People Issues aspect of Project Management. Statistically, money for employees is not the best motivator, instead, it's the interesting tasks that they work on, and of course respect. This concept is very important for Project Managers to understand for employee motivation.
Hi,This seems to be an interesting one..I,myself a business manager in a MNC firm tried different corporate gifts to motivate my employees in my four-year stint with the company.. I think you should go for something professional as you have not mentioned anything specific 'bout the range.Keep it simple and which should imply corporate atmosphere.. Corporate is all about formals, so Cufflinks would not be a bad choice, in my opinion..http://www.cuffwear.com
