Go to Control Panel and double click on the "C Drive' Icon. (Assuming C is the letter for your hard disk). Then on a free area inside the window, right click and select 'properties' then 'tools'. It should be there.
The Disk Defragmenter can be found by pressing the windows button + R and then type "dfrg.msc" without the quotations.
The Windows Defragmenter is really the only one I've ever used. You can find this in Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tool -> Disk Defragmenter I've also messed around with one but I cannot remember if it's free or not. It's called SmartDefrag and it does a pretty good job. Haven't really compared it with the Windows Defragmenter though.
Use a defragmentation tool. In Windows, you can do this using the Disk Defragmenter tool, which is accessible from Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Defragmenter.
It's called disk defragmenter. Windows has an in built disk defragmenter which I haven't found to be that good. Lot of times you would find that it starts from 0%. Primarily it is due to other programs running and accessing the disk. So a better tool that I've used and I'm quite satisfied is Piriforms Defraggler (http://www.piriform.com/defraggler) Try it out once and I'm sure you'd also like it.
Windows Defrag can stop running if you have a DLL error or registry problems. Re-installation of Windows would probably be the easiest way to fix this. Or, you could download a more powerful and faster defragment tool like UltimateDefrag. Phil Owner, The ProngHorn Axiom: Self Evident. Necessary.

If you are on Windows XP then use Disk Defragmentor and Disk Cleanup which can both be find in the Start Menu under-- Start -> All Programs -> Accesories -> System Tools. You can also check out programs on the web like a registry cleaner. Registry cleaners are very effective when it comes to speeding up your computer and fixing common errors.
