Since the late seventies, the Saudi Arabians have been studying the feasibility of towing an iceberg to utilize as a source of freshwater. There are several articles on the study. It's an interesting read.

∙ 9y agoIcebergs, mountains of ice broken off from ice shelves, play an important role in cooling and diluting surrounding ocean water and encouraging the growth of phytoplankton, which remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. A recent Antarctic study showed an increase in chlorophyl a, and a decrease in carbon dioxide, even ten days after the iceberg had drifted away.

The can, however, be viewed, protected and dissolved by human activity.
Icebergs could be used by marine life as a dock, such as polar bears, seals, sea lions, penguins, etc.
