Closer would be used to note a change in proximity, ie something is getting nearer. It could also (more rarely) be used as a name for someone, or something that closes things e.g. a sale, or a door.

  • As the man moved closer, she felt slightly uncomfortable, but did not feel guilt as she quietly finished her drink, without making eye contact.
  • That is Bob's third used car sale of the day! He's a real closer!
  • Come closer Little Red, so I can see you better.
