From a previous question, I understand that you are concerned that a gun you purchased may have been used in a crime. First, buying a gun at a gun show really has no greater chance of that being so than buying a gun at a dealer's shop, or buying one from a local private seller. You had asked about registration- in MOST of the US, there IS no registration of ordinary rifles, pistol, and shotguns. There is also no way of knowing if a random gun was used in a crime. If you are concerned with a firearm having been stolen, contact your local police department, and ask if they will check your guns serial number against the computer listing of stolen property. They will usually want to have possession of the firearm when they do that.
No practical way to do this. If the seller was a dealer, and you filled out paperwork at the show, you may be able to go to the dealer and have them check their records. If you do not know who the dealer was, no way.
call the state police and give them the serial number off the weapon or take it to a gun shop and have them do a check, but if you were smart and bought the gun legally at a gun show or gun dealer the gun will most likely not be stolen due to the background check and gun registry, also if you purchased the gun off of any tom, dick ,or harry and did not have it registered to you, when you call the police or take it to a gun shop to have the serial number checked you will be going to jail because it is a felony to buy a gun and not have it registered to you .
Check w/ your local law enforcement.
Money, background check, appropriate age for what is being bought.
The internet. <><><> However, you will still (in most cases) need to have the gun shipped to a local dealer, and you take delivery from that dealer. Besides the internet (and I have bought several there) you can also check with local dealers, or visit a gun show.

Sometimes a gun show can be cheaper, sometimes a sale at a gun shop can be cheaper. You really need to shop around to find the best price. Be sure you are comparing the same model, and with used guns, be sure that you are comparing guns in the same condition.

Long gun.
If you think it's stolen, ask the police to run the serial number.
Any time you purchase a firearm from a dealer, Federal law requires that the dealer must run a background check at that time. The exception is that certain states issue a concealed weapons license that ALSO requires a background check- proof of licensing takes the place of a background check. So if you bought a gun from a dealer, you have had a background check made.
