if you have a 3.0 motor, then you have a 5r55s transmission. the atf fill plug is located on the extension housing of the transmission on the passenger side just above the cross member, it is a metric Allen head bolt . the fill level can be checked when atf is warm, idling, remove the small torex head bolt from the center of the larger bolt, on the bottom of the transmission pan, add atf through the bolt on the extension housing until, atf comes out the torex head bolt inside the larger bolt on the bottom of the pan.
caution do not remove the "large" bolt itself from the bottom of the pan, or you will drain the trans of atf.

in the tranny? ls has so-called sealed tranny... they fill it through tiny hole on one side up to a certain level and there is no dipstick to check it or add fluid...
You add fluid at the exact same place you check the fluid level.

There is no dipstick for the transmission on these models. I wondered the same thing (2001 Grand Am). The only way to check the level is from underneath the car.

There is no transmission dipstick. You have to check the level at the transmission itself. I just had my mechanic do it because its alot easier to check it up on the lift. I know this because I own a 2001 Saturn
