if you have a misfire clyder 1, you need to have a scan tool hooked up to the data link connector. the light can be reset, how ever there might be a reason this happened. when the light is reset and goes out then your car has in intermittent fault, if the lite comes back on, right away then you have a problem, with either a coil pickup, spark plug, would need to be diagnosed to complete the repair
Bad plug? Bad wire? Bad piston or valve (do a compression test)
i have a 1997 chevy cavalier the wipers and radio work when turn the key swich back
It has a 74j cylinder misfire because the 43 peak is in the fuel, having it backfire to the motor It has a 74j cylinder misfire because the 43 peak is in the fuel, having it backfire to the motor
if this is anything like my 96 cavalier engine, it should be the left most cylinder as you look down on the engine, probable firing order would be 1, 3, 2, 4 [1] [2] [3] [4] front of car
This is usually a bad coil pack. This cylinder is located in the middle back. I had a lot of dealers that didn't know and some manuals are wrong. They run 1,3,5 on the back.
You may have a bad valve, did you replace the rotor and cap? Check the cap for cracks.
no
I would first suspect the coil pack or the plug wires that lead to the misfiring cylinder. On the 2.4L check the coil housing carfully. It has metal strips that can burn in half.Could be spark plugs, or low cylinder compression, or low fuel pressure, or vacume leak, or leaking EGR valve, or faulty fuel injector, or burnt valves. If you can add to this list, please do....good luck with the problem.
The temperature sending unit on a 96 cavalier is on the front of the engine. It is just to the left of the alternator.
where is 1996 cavalier convenience center
In general (very loosely) a misfire can be a bad plug, wire or coil.
Its a random misfire detected
