The first place I turn in a good search engine! You can use any search engine at all. Type in the thing you are interested in, and you get a gazillion choices!

Once you have some basic information, you can either do more research - if you're really writing an in-depth piece, you might want to talk to some people who know about the subject - there's nothing like some actual experience that you can put into your article or story! You could also read books specifically about that subject, or watch factual DVDs or movies (be careful with the fiction, though, because a lot of the time, the movie makers get facts totally wrong).
