I have a 2006 Trail Blazer. Had the same problem. Then I got out the owners manual.

Either by opening a door or turning on the interior switch...
do they not turn on when door is open but do they turn on when you rotate the button on the left then push button on right
The dimmer switch when turned just past high, turns on the interior lights. There are switches in the door opening that turns the lights off when the door is closed. Either one of these can cause the lights to stay on if they fail.
On the interior lights for the back seats, there is a switch. When you turn the switch to "Door" mode it will make the lights turn on when the door is opened.
Open the door, and look at the lower part of the door opening, closest to the rear wheel. It's covered by a rubber stopper, but if you feel it with your finger, there is a switch inside...
Closing the door turns off interior lights on a 1997 Chevy S10 because there is a switch in the door jamb that closes when the door shuts. When the door opens, the switch opens.
The interior lights fuse on the astra 57 reg is located on the door hatch.
There is a sensor on the inside of the door somewhere. I have never really paid much attention to this.. so i have no idea where it is located, but chances are it is stuck and needs to be pulled out and lubed up.
Fairly easy. We have a complete how to on removing the door panel at our enthusiasts forum www.trailvoy.com
The rough opening of an interior door is two inches wider than the width of the door and two inches higher than its height. Thus your rough opening width is 38". A typical interior door has a height of 80" which would require a rough opening height of 82" but check your door to ensure that is theheight.
On the ceiling of the vehicle there is usually a switch that allows you to decide if you want the light on,off,or on when a door is open keep switching it until you find the right one.
