It's virtually impossible. Legal Aid societies, if they even answer their phones, have ridiculously low income thresholds. If you manage contact, they will usually tell you that they don't have the resources to take the case. Private attorneys rarely, if ever, take employment cases on a contingency basis. EEOC almost dismisses every case without even investigating. The employer holds all the cards.
How would find out if my lawyer received a check from EEOC my case was settled 12/6/2013
The time it takes to resolve an EEOC case can vary widely depending on factors such as the complexity of the case, the workload of the EEOC office handling it, and any potential appeals. On average, it can take anywhere from a few months to a few years for a case to be resolved.
For a summary of this case see below link:
A good website is abanet.com. The offer a large directory of pro bono programs and lawyers all across the united states. Attorneys who do "pro bono" work do so for charities, non-profits and causes that ultimately benefit the greater good. An employment dispute can settled in Small Claims court without legal representation, taken through the EEOC for matters of discrimination/harassment, or taken on contingency if the attorney believes the case has merit and is likely to result in a substantial settlement. Lawyers do not work for free.
Yes you can, see Terry vs. Gallegos. I this case a white EEOC attorney was denied promotions over employees who were not nearly as qualified. In promotion went to an underprivileged minority with out a high school degree. I this does not show the corruptness of the EEOC, then read the statistics on which of their cases they put merit into investigating.
More than you can imagine if you get a lawyer. It's a hard one to prove, but a lawyer can almost always win the case. It's tough for any company to win on this one. Marcy Since the EEOC doesn't accept a case unless their investigation supports the claim, an awful lot. And even more settle out of court for nice sums of money.
EEOC -- Employer Equal Opportunity Commission
not a lawyer but probably not because in my experience it is something that no one wants to change. "it is the way it is." i have been trying and have been shot down at each turn. even to the point of the EEOC admitting the problem yet allowing me to lose a case against a hospital.
After failing a sexual harassment suit against someone or something it is a waiting game. You have to go through a process with a lawyer and then to court.
