The best way to loosen up an sprained or injured ankle is to do a series of exercises to regain range of motion in the joint and at the same time strengthen it, so the ankle can maintain that rediscovered mobility. The best series of exercises I've found is called the HEM program. For more info, go here: http://www.rehabanklesprain.com
Once an athlete starts to walk around it starts loosening up. Even though they loosen up they still provide support to the ankle.

He twisted his ankle
A sprained ankle is a tear in a ligament or tendon, not an injury to a bone.
Yes and it is still injured - you need to go and get it x-rayed
it recieves the weight from the whole body along with the tibia...and reduces the weight on the ankles and feet..so it has alot to do with the ankle..if the ankle is injured then the ankle would have trouble with this weight hence creating pain
The only way you can tell if you have sprained an ankle is to go to the emergency room and see a doctor. I would stay off the injured ankle until you find out the results.
Jurgis injured his ankle while trying to get away from a runaway steer.
Turtle Wexler is injured in the second explosion in "The Westing Game." She suffers a fractured ankle as a result.
Elevate the foot and ankle and rotate between hot and cold pack's every 30 minute's to a hour . Stay off your feet until the pain get's less, also you could make sure and to stretch the ankle and loosen it up before doing to much.
