Treatment - uncomplicated measles
An uncomplicated case of measles usually lasts about 14 days and most people make a full recovery. In the meantime, treatment options may include:

  • Bed rest
  • Plenty of fluids
  • Paracetamol to reduce pain and fever
  • Isolation to reduce the risk of transmission.

Treatment - complicated measles
Occasionally, measles is a serious disease that requires urgent treatment and can even be life threatening. Sometimes, a person dies despite prompt medical attention.

Treatment depends on the complication but may include:

  • Hospitalisation
  • Supportive care
  • Antibiotics to treat bacterial infection.

All viruses have to be treated by "support measures". This means to use something for the fever, the headache, the stuff nose and so forth.

get vaccinated by your doctor when you are born because then it is easier but it is better to get it within a year each or 2 years each because sometimes being vaccinated does not last for long E.G cancer when you get vaccinated it will stand for within a year or 2 years so then you should get vaccinated again form your doctor

Hopefully you live in the developed world. If so, you would have had a vaccination when you were a small child. If you have not had a vaccination, and have never previously had measels when you were younger, then you may well contract it. It is an airborn infection and is highly contagious. Try wearing a facemask, it may offer some protection.

What is the difference between a precaution and a consideration?

A precaution is something you do to protect yourself or someone/something else before something happens. Like, if you know you always spill milk when you pour it, you hold it over the sink. Doing that is a precaution. A considereation is thinking about something. It doesn't mean that you have any actions at all. You might say to yourself, "wow, I usually spill milk if I pour it" You don't have to act on what you have thought.

What disease does the mmr protect against?

This is a combination vaccine and has the acronym MMR. It is administered for measles, mumps, and rubella.
