This is not suggested as it will damage your alternator.
Place a good battery in the vehicle, start the vehicle and turn on the parking lights (load the alternator) then disconnect the battery; being sure to insulate both cables from touching anything conductive. If the alternator is good, and charging properly the car should still run; however, this places a greater load on the alternator than it was designed to maintain and it will cause the unit to burn out prematurely. Also note, turning on more electrical items will cause a greater load and trouble.
Also note: this will more than likely cause the computer to show trouble codes for the vehicle, and it may also trigger the computer to shut the car down from a major fault (IE: shut off the alternator from too heavy a load).

To change battery on a 1998 Buick Regal, first remove the windshield washer fluid reservoir. Then remove the massive air flow housing to be able to remove the old battery and replace with a new one.
first you remove the k brace which is the black bar, then you remove the beck, which is the fuse box, then you remove the battery rubber hold down which is a 13mm and then remove the 2 battery terminals carefully which are an 8mm then the battery comes out and reverse procedure to install.
Mine is under the rear seat just unbolt it and remove the cables
In the trunk, on the right hand side. Remove the trunk covering to expose the spare tire; then remove the panel on the right to get to the battery.
you have to remove the bracket that goes over the top of the battery then its just a matter of unbolting the hold down bracket and the cables
the battery is in front of the tire on the passenger side. Remove the plastic cover in front of the tire
