One way to save fuel while using your oven is to have a Pizza stone, unglazed ceramic tiles, or a couple unglazed bricks in it. They retain the heat and therefore your oven will stay at a more even temperature and have to cycle on less often. But, if you are using an air conditioner, this savings will most likely be off-set because the bricks keep the oven hot longer therefore heating up the house longer. On the other hand, if you are heating your home, this will work out nicely.

By only preheating the oven right before you need it (as opposed to pre heating and letting it run empty for ages). Same goes for heating pans only when you need them. And only boiling the amount of water that you need. Also, using pans with the lid on means you require less heat to achieve boiling point. Some ovens have a cooling fan that kicks in when you turn the oven off - in most cases this fan is not necessary and you may be able to disable it to save energy. In most cases it is the oven that takes up the most fuel during cooking (particularly during the warm up). Some ovens are more efficient than others - it's easier to get an efficient oven than trying to avoid using a inefficient oven.

Also, one of the best ways to save fuel is to only cook what you're actually going to eat.
