normally a mother cat would not mate if she is still weening her kittens. meaning if she is still taking care of them. unless you have separated her and her kittens, she can then, mate. if not, she may still have the baby weight on... just like humans....
Cats nurse kittens until the kittens are about four or five weeks old. At this age, kittens begin to wean and are able to eat soft kitten food. The mother cat's teets will dry and retract slightly. The only true way to tell if a cat is still nursing kittens is through observation.
You could take the kittens to an animal care centre. Maybe take the kittens to the SPCA in Orillia, and I think there's also one in Barrie. Ask your parents/ guardians about this and I'm sure they will tell you all that you'd like to know.

It is hard to tell when a cat is done, but as long as she is nursing her new babies and seems content all you need to do is check on them every now and then.
To a degree
You can be sure after a month if not earlier.
shine a flashlight inside or hold it up to light to see if there is a honeycomb inside. if there is no honeycomb inside, it contains no platinum.
The mother will still show signs of labor. She will still have contractions if labor is progressing-- if it stops there is a problem. If you gently feel her belly, you may be able to feel the babies. If a kitten is partway out the birth canal but doesn't come out, immediately take mother and all born kittens to a vet or the mom could die.
