I dont know anything about cars but my blower stopped working in my car and I took it to the mechanic and he changed a fuse and it started working again. Then a couple of months later the blower stoped blowing again and I took it back to the mechanic and he said the fuse is fine it might be the blower moter, how can I tell, I think it's a loose wire because my radio was removed and everysince my radio was removed my blower has been giving me problems.
What year? 1996
99% of the time, the blower motor relay, or resistor block, will be bad if the fan motor only works on high speed.
The heater blower motor itself is located under the hood on the passenger side of the car.
If a blower motor resister is bad the fan won't work at all or will only work on certain speeds. And you will see on the resistor a missing link where it burnt out kind of like in a light bulb
Examine the back of the switch for loose or melted connections. Then examine the resistor for burned spots. In most cases a burned resistor is the result of a failing blower motor. So if a new resistor burns out in a short time, replace the motor also.
I cannot tell you exactly but normally it will be located near the blower motor. It may also be behind the passenger kick panel.
It is most likely a bad blower motor resistor. Replace the resistor. If the problem continues, it could be the switch.
The Blower Motor Resistor Pack is defective. Follow the wires from the Blower Motor to find it.
the resistor has melted the variable settings. Replace resistor under passenger dash.
I am the owner of a 1998 gmc safari awd & my blower motor quit working on high also. You need to replace the blower motor resistor. The part is a dealer item only just go to your local dealer and give them year make & model of van then tell them ya are wanting the blower motor resistor.
Does your blower work on ANY settings? If it works in the HIGH setting only it's a good chance that the ressistor is bad. Don't worry they are easy to replace and fairly inexpensive.
How do I tell if it is bad?
