For middle ear infection the symptoms are:

  • (Severe) ear pain, but this not always occurs
  • Dizziness or loss of balance
  • Fever and vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Itch in the infected ear
  • A feeling of blockage or pressure in the ear
  • Hearing problem or muffled hearing, sometimes even temporary loss of hearing (can last a few days)
  • Sometimes the eardrum bursts. This lets out infected fluids and the ear becomes runny for a few days

In case of very young children who can not tell you what's going on sometimes you can tell by their behavior, this may include:

  • Pulling or tugging at one or both ears
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Unusual irritability
  • Not playful When children are in pain they are not as playful
  • Non responsive When they are in pain they are sometimes not responding to your attempts to satisfy their needs
  • They don't react to quiet sounds or you notice other signs that they don't hear so good such as sitting too close to the television or being absent-minded
  • A type of crying which you have learned to recognize as from pain and not from hunger, being tired or something else

Symptoms of outer ear canal infection or swimmer's ear:

  • Pain
  • Irritation an itch in the infected ear canal
  • Discharge from the infected ear
  • Pain getting more severe by movement of the ear lobe or the jaw
  • Temporary reduction in hearing
  • Slight fever
  • Inflammation in the ear

Well, supposedly you can have it from different things, such as:
  • Ear Wax build up
  • Cold
  • Allergies
  • Mucus in you body going to the tubes connected to your ears that stuff them
  • Throat Problems
  • If you can't hear out of that ear (ears)

These are all symptoms of having a bad ear infection, although the best way to find out is to talk to a doctor about it! Sarah Rissa's BFF! (the smrt one/blonde! lol)

You can tell when your ear is infected if you are experiencing some of these-

1- Swelling- you will notice that one ear is a little bit bigger than the other ear, of if they are both swollen, you will notice they are bigger.

2- Pains- you will feel pains in your earlobe- (not stinging pains) if you move your earring

3- dried skin-you will notice dry skin around the hole of your earring

4- Reddish ears

And Lastly, Puss or watery stuff coming from your ears

Swelling, redness, discharge of green puss, warm to the touch, painful. These are the basic signs of an infection with a piercing. The above should not be confused with the following signs: Swelling, redness, discharge of clear fluid, rash like skin discoloration, enlargement of the piercing hole by the jewellery, burning or itchiness These are signs of an allergic reaction Normal signs of correct healing: Slight discharge or whitish yellow matter, slight redness only noticed after handling the piercing, slight signs of crusty matter by the piercing exit holes. Any time you have an issue that doesn't look right to you go see your professional body piercer and ask them for advice. You have paid for a professional body piercing and the piercer should be available to consult with you about aftercare and healing as well as jewellery changes and purchasing new jewellery.

I use Hydrogen Peroxide( Food Grade ), as drying agent.

It's available from any Chemist along with an eye-dropper for application.

A couple of drops in each ear will identify an ear infection by a fizzing action.

Applications both morning & night should clear any possible infection.

If Hydrogen Peroxide is overdosed, any impacted wax may be softened with some warm olive oil or "Cerumol".

As I am prone to these types of infections, I apply a couple of drops of Hydrogen Peroxide to each ear nightly.

Does the trick!
