The brake pads that are new are sometimes between 1/4" to about 1/2" thick.So try to look at both pads and judge from that.
The lug pattern is the same but the 2003 has a larger disk brake needing a 17" rim so a 16" rim off a 2001 will not fit. However you could put the 03 rims on the 01.

The rear disc break pistons on Mazda are not to be pushed in. Instead you turn them in clockwise.
If the computer cannot recognize an external hard disk, it would be virtually impossible to format it. There must be a problem with the hard disk. Consider replacing it or taking it ti where you bought it.
there was a patch years ago that allowed people to play it without needing a disc.

I have a 2001 MAZDA tRIBUTE WITH A FACTORY 6 DISK CD CHANGER. Can't get cds to load or eject. Radio and cassteet player work fine.
The default is C: that is the default drive letter, the default drive number is Disk 0
