THAT IS USUALLY AN INDICATION OF A BURNED BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. SWITCH IS USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ITSELF. DISCONECTED AND IF THE LIGHTS GO OUT YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR PROBLEM , SIMPLY REPLACE IT.

Have you checked the fuses?
Check bulbs they are double filamented smaller for brake lights larger for tailights Check fuses Check stop light switch
They are two seperate circuits. Check the fuses and the bulbs.
