It depends on which kind of "will" you are asking about. Will is a helping verb that shows the future tense: I will finish my work tomorrow. But it can also be a noun, referring to a legal document that states which people (relatives, family members) a deceased person left his or her property to: In Mr. Smith's will, he left his house and his car to his young daughter Andrea.

The word "will" is both a verb and a noun.

The most common use of "will" is as an auxiliary verbindicating that the following verb is in the future tense. Examples:

Will we get the discount? (will get)

It can also be a main verb, meaning "to cause something to happen by wishing it." Examples:
I plan to will my collection to the museum. (to will)
You can't will away a physical addiction. (can will)

The noun will refers to someone's preference or a legal document concerning disposition of an estate. Examples:
Where there's a will, there's a way!

More Examples:

Where there's a will, there's a scurrilous lawyer. (noun)

Additional Information: Will has two senses, called its deontic and its epistemic senses:

(Sorry; I don't make up these names, honest. They're standard in the literature.)

  1. The deontic sense of will means that the theme is willing to do incredible.
  2. The epistemic sense of will means the speaker's individual judgment of

the subject's prospect of being busy at some time in the future.

This is the sense of will that is frequently called the future tense in Latinate grammar.
