How common is it for a woman to have an affair with her son-in-law?

AnswerIt's more common than one would think, but many women will keep their thoughts to themselves. Older women (like older men) love to have attention from someone younger of the opposite sex. It's easier when one's life isn't as fresh with their mate to fall for a son-in-law or even a father-in-law caring a lot for his daughter-in-law. The son-in-law is just that to you and is respectful, but probably fun-loving so don't read anymore into this. However, to have an affair with your own daughter's husband is about the lowest a mother could get! No matter what the feelings are back-off if you are having an affair and if not, but thinking of doing so, you run a high risk of ruining not only your life, but his, and more importantly that of your daughters. Quit trying to be in competition with your daughter and just be happy for her. Quit hanging around and get a life for yourself!

Often the mother of the daughter is either divorced or a widow so it's not at all uncommon to feel lonely and see many good qualities in your son-in-law. It brings back the pangs of being youthful and exploring your own needs and the excitement of being young, a little foolish and falling in love as many times as you felt you wanted too. This is a signal for you to make some decisions in your own life and if you are married perhaps this is the time to reflect on your marriage and make some decisions. If you are divorced or a widow then it's time to get moving and start dating and finding someone you love and have some happiness in your life. You could join church groups, clubs, volunteer, go on a cruise or go to a reputable place that helps you find males to date and it's safe and secure. There are a lot of lonely people out there.

My own husband is almost 4 years younger than I am, and his brother married a woman almost 8 years older than himself. I know a nice woman (divorced) in a large food chain in Canada and one day when I went to the deli this handsome young man of about 30 came up to her and gave her a kiss. Without thinking I said, "Oh, isn't that sweet of your son." She gave me a huge devilish grin and said, "That's not my son, that's my boyfriend!" I was embarrassed and apologized, but she laughed her head off and said she was having the time of her life. We kept in touch and I found this young man more mature than a lot of older men and indeed he truly loved her. They eventually got married. So, what I am saying is, you don't need to take the chance of hurting your daughter in anyway because you have feelings for her husband. Find your own young man to regain some of that youth you have stirring inside of you. Not too young though!

I am thinking that it probably happens more than we would care to think but I am sure that it happens. Don't think it is that common.
