Yes, i found the answer. Truck had an aftermarket tachometer installed. 2nd truck this tach has been on. After 320,000 mi. on this tach, something in the wiring or internals failed. Unplugged the tach, truck fired right up. Check those aftermarket accessories you installed, before finding fault with the factory stock vehicle.
green wire on aftermarket tachs are the signal wire i belive
at the tach it is white-pink green at coil
Check the wire connections on the coil. If ok, the tach may be bad.
The tach should connect to the distributor.
Since the coil is in the distributor, simply hook the tach 'trigger' wire to the out put on the side of the distributor cap marked 'tach'.
Connect the green wire to the brown striped black wire.
run it to the blue wire on your distributor. That's the tach lead.
