Get a transmission, clutch, and the pedals from a junkyard for a couple of hundred dollars. Eight plus hours in labor, and shop labor is usually around 50-80 bucks an hour.

I could be wrong about the labor time, since I've never did it, or had it done.

Can you change a Toyota Tacoma manual transmission to an automatic transmission and is it costly?

This can be a complicated procedure. The exact price will vary by mechanic and will depend on the parts used and amount of labor.

Can you sWap an automatic for manual transmission?

The short answer is yes. It is an involved process and leads to cutting of the floor to allow for the shifter, but a transmission is a transmission and as long as it will mount to the engine it can be installed. Kinda costly though.

Is Automatic transmission better than manual?

It is not necessarily better it is just more convenient. A manual transmission car will normally get a little better mileage. An automatic is more costly to build so the vehicle costs more to buy. An automatic is easier to drive because you do not have to shift. Their are pros & cons to each one.

Can you change the manual transmission in the Chevrolet Aveo to an automatic?

Consequences of transmission fluid leaks?

A transmission leak should be viewed as a potentially serious and costly mechanical condition if left undiagnosed or repaired. Consequences include automatic transmission failure, risk of fire, and environmental contamination through the leak itself.

what's more costly, rebuilding a transmission or replacing it?

Replacing a transmission is more costly, rebuilding a transmission is the least costly. Either way make sure you go to a reputable shop and get a guarantee for the replacement or rebuild.

What does a truck having the lack in ability to change from 2nd to 3rd gear on an automatic transmission mean is it a big job and costly?

Potentially, yes. The problem could be due to another of things, and will also depend on what exact transmission you have.

Can you switch a automatic transmission to a standard?

Yes it can be done, but there is really no point as it is a big job and will cost more than its worth. Plus a manual transmission is way better than a automatic. If you would rather have a automatic transmission it would be wise to just sell the vehicle that has the manual and buy a vehicle equipped with an automatic.

Can you install a standard transmission in a 2000 Malibu 3.1L V6?

As this vehicle was only produced with an Automatic Transmission, it would be very difficult to fit a manual in this car. Not impossible but extremely difficult and costly. I would not attempt this conversion unless you have lots of money, tools, and skill.

What are some common transmission problems?

Transmission problems can result in costly repair costs. The most common transmission problems are leaks and problems with the torque converter, solenoid or clutch.

What is transmission liquid in a car do?

Transmission fluid acts differently in manual and automatic transmissions. In a manual transmission it lubricates the gears and thrust bearings. Generally older manual transmission use a heavier weight lubricant ( 75 to 90 weight ) and some require non hypoid or GL 1 - GL3 oil so as not to destroy any yellow metals. Newer manual transmissions use GL 4 and GL 5 oils and may require multiple viscosity fluid. Automatic transmission fluid lubricates parts and also acts as hydraulic fluid. There are different grades and ratings usually signified as ATF and/or Dextron. Use your repair or owners manual to select the appropriate type of fluid. Using the wrong type can cause severe and costly damage to your transmission. Check your fluid level in your automatic transmission often. If your transmission is a manual, replace the fluid according to the maintenance schedule in your manual religiously.

Can you tow Jeep liberty automatic 2 wheels down?

refer to your owner's manual for correct towing procedure but I would say Yes you can tow a 2 wheel drive vehicle no problem with the wheels down, Put the trannsmission in nutural and unlock the steering. The reason you should check with the dealership with all vehicles ---especaily 4wd is the oilpump which lubricates the bearings in the transmission is often driven off the engine and with the engine not running and pumping oil --- the bearings would dry out and fail on you leaving a costly repair bill. The proper way to pull a 4wd vehicle is put the tansmission in park and place the 4wd transfer case in nutural ---the 4wd transfer case pumps oil from the driveshaft and the transmission doesent so a 4wd with the transmission in nutural and the transfercase in gear would destroy the bearings.
