Get a transmission, clutch, and the pedals from a junkyard for a couple of hundred dollars. Eight plus hours in labor, and shop labor is usually around 50-80 bucks an hour.
I could be wrong about the labor time, since I've never did it, or had it done.

The proper way to pull a 4wd vehicle is put the tansmission in park and place the 4wd transfer case in nutural ---the 4wd transfer case pumps oil from the driveshaft and the transmission doesent so a 4wd with the transmission in nutural and the transfercase in gear would destroy the bearings.
