General Howe (5th Viscount Howe) Had the chance to attack Brooklyn heights with his full force of 33, 000 men. If he had done so he would have captured all of George Washingtons Army, and would have probably ended the war.
But some must realise, at the time America was just mainly empty land. So when the British gave it up it was not such a big deal. But when we look at what it is today we realise we missed out on alot.
Also at the time we had troops all around the world, Australia, India, New Zealand - All expanding the Empire. We withdrew and put the troops to better use.
