Slavery has existed for millennia, and still exists today in remote areas of Africa, where radical Islamists enslave weaker Islamists or Christians. Slavery can only end or be prevented when the majority of the population agrees to forbid the "peculiar institution". In terms of Judeo-Christian values, slavery, since the inception of The Bible in mass printings, should have never been permitted. The Apostle Paul specifies in the book of Philemon that Philemon should have forgiven his slave, Onesimus, for running away and subsequently became a Christian. Paul urged Philemon to look upon Onesimus not as a slave but as a brother in Christ. Had the Christian world taken Paul's words to heart, there may very well have been a termination of slavery in Christendom.
As far as the Islamic world is concerned, I mean no disrespect when I say that it is scientifically at par or advanced of western society, but socially many Islamic areas are backward and still living in the Middle ages, exploiting women, minorities, children and anyone who might questions their ironclad, repressive values.
no.your welcome
The Civil War could have been avoided in various ways. There had to be an agreement on how the government would be run that would have eliminated slavery, yet preserved prospects for occasional minority rule by bigots of all stripes, the utterly stupid and the irredeemably inhumane....
No, the civil war would have been almost impossible to avoid. A country must all have the same beliefs and cannot be divided down into two halves. Some commanders in the civil war did not understand this but it was the ultimate truth. In order to have a unified fully functional country, they must have the same beliefs. This was the main reason it was fought.
It has never been conquered...it's been America ever since the pilgrims stoke the land from the Indians, hence why America is still America.
It was admitted to the Union as free soil. To get the South to agree to this, Congress had to make concessions, including the Fugitive Slave Act, which turned many Notherners towards Abolitionism, and pushed the country closer to civil war. If California could have been admitted as two different states, divided along the line of the Missouri Compromise, war could have been avoided.
