During World War I, soldiers on both sides faced a variety of dangers. The bullets of enemy rifles and machine guns were the primary danger. Yet, cannon-fire and the bullets and bombs of enemy air forces were also deadly, as were the gas-attacks that were occasionally launched. Then again, diseases and suffering due to exposure to cold or heat were other dangers experienced by the soldiers.
