BY ship! the aircraft was crated and hoisted aboard the Naval Cruiser- U.S.S. Memphis, a regular Navy vessel. Lindbergh and his craft returned to the US by Ship. methinks there was something fishy going on. Did they want certain readings and equipment ( maybe spy cameras) on the Nx-2ll to be kept out of the public eye? It should be noted the NX-2ll was a first-cabin high tech airplane of its day=- and is now a museum piece. She had advanced technology such as various navigational instruments- a periscopic sextant ( later used on Subs)- the famous Earth Inductor Compass- and more prosaic the still highly precise T-level sights. These were made and still are- for leveling machinery- in Switzerland.
