Yes, Marx was a social thinker. He is known for his economic and political theories which predicted communism; however, those theories went beyond economics and politics, because he used them to theorize how certain societies developed into what they were and are. His theory that the mode of production (economic systems) created feudalism and capitalism and would eventually change society into socialism and then communism (social systems).
