She reestablished trade relationships lost during the Hyksos occupation of the 15th - 17th dynasty. She opened trade relations with Lebanon,Crete,Syria,West & South Africa, Aswan and reopened the mines in Mt Sinai. Egyptians traded in Punt for gold, ivory, ebony, mhyrr,frankenscence and exotic animals.
She commissioned hundreds of building projects in the upper and lower Egypt. The greatest of which was her temple mortuary complex at Dier el Bahri, which later Pharoah's would choose to associate their complexes with, and become known as The Valley of the Kings.

She put on the fake beard and ruled as a man and she was good at that. Since Thutmose III was too young to assume the throne unaided, Hatshepsut served as his regent. Initially, Hatshepsut bore this role traditionally until, for reasons that are unclear, she claimed the role of pharaoh. Technically, Hatshepsut did not 'usurp' the crown, as Thutmose the III was never deposed and was considered co-ruler throughout her life, but it is clear that Hatshepsut was the principal ruler in power. He was her nephew.
