John Paul Jones (1747 - 1792) was a naval fighter in the American Revolutionary War. During his engagement with Serapis, he was asked by the British Captain if he wanted to surrender. Jones gave the legendary reply: "I have not yet begun to fight!"

Well, in one famous battle in one of many wars, John Paul Jones defeated a ship of the British navy. When asked to surrender his sinking ship, he famously replied, "I have not yet begun to fight". Then his crew boarded the British ship and captured it.

John paul Jones was on the Bonhomme Richard when he came upon a British ship called the Serapis. The two ships began to fight.Even though he was outnumbered he would not give up. When the British asked if he was going to surrender he said "I have not yet begun to fight!" He ended up winnign but shortly after the battle both ships sank. Luckily, John Paul Jones mades it home
