Just outside of Houston Texas, down highway 59, is what used to be a small rural town called Sugarland. The name is a reflection of the main industry of the time - a sugar mill and refinery owned by Imperial Pure Cane Sugar. While the company is still headquartered their, the refinery has long since been closed. The band, Sugarland, adopted the name from this city because the name had a "sweet" sound to it. Catchy and interesting...just like this city that is now booming and one of the fasted growing cities in America. It has many master-planned communities and holds the title of the most fit city for several years running. Forget the Splenda and the Pink Stuff - and just get some sugar!

The band Sugarland got their name from the town of Sugar Land, Texas. Jennifer Nettles, one of the band's members, used to live in the town and thought the name suited their music as it represented a blend of sweet and strong.
