How did superstitions start?
superstitions started back in the ancient times when our ancestors had no answer to why they saw there reflection or shadow they said it was their souls! so when u break something that has a reflection or ur shadow it would mean bad luck becuase the ancestors would think that there souls were harmed :D
Superstitions have been with humankind since we first became self aware. Many of the first superstitions came from a general lack of knowledge about simple cause and effect, natural cycles, and the way nature worked. As a larger body of knowledge became available, superstitions became entrenched in the spiritual paths of humankind. Even today, superstitions tend to be relegated to the list of curiosities of another group of people. We rarely think of our own…
Superstitions always try to explain things that people don't understand or know about. In the 1980's urban superstitions included flying saucers, and alligators living in sewers. Sometimes the new superstitions reflect the fears of people about the world they live in. Misinformation also contributes to superstitions.
Fear, uncertainty and desperation pushes the ignorant to hold on to whatever magical explanation given unto them. Throughout our lives we all go through good times and bad times. There are these many old stories that explain the explainable and answers the unanswerable questions. Sometimes people hold on to those regardless of scientific findings because of yet more fear and cultural indoctrination since childhood.
Superstitions are intrinsic to humankind. We find "cause and effect" in much of what we do and observe around us. Most superstitions are harmless enough and really should not be given too much credence. When humankind has advanced far enough to be able to understand and control things like "luck" superstitions will no longer be necessary, but for now, I do not see that happening in the foreseeable future.
Superstitions have probably been present among us since time immortal. You will find listed below a collection of superstitions that are still with us today…
