The Arab-Israeli War of 1948 demonstrated that the Jews of Israel were not going to be an easily-eradicated nuisance and since the Arabs were unwilling to accept any solution other than complete victory, their intransigence in the wake of the Israeli victory marked the beginning of the Arab-Israeli Conflict. However, this beginning is completely artificial since the conflict between Arab militias and Zionist Jewish militias had been going on since 1920, making the Arab-Israeli conflict simply an escalation and expansion of those hostilities.
