Anglicanism is simply the ancient Catholic Church, the Body of Christ in Britain! It was brought here in the ,'mists of time,' by,it is said, the brother of Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ,S. Simon Zelotes.! There are no photo graphs or government records, but we do know that Christianity was here at a surprisingly early date and S.Dorotheus of Tyre, [Saint and Martyr] 303 Ad tells us so! The first Bishop of our Church being a friend of S.Paul's, mentioned in the Epistle to the Romans, Aristobulous.

It was and is an out showing of the Catholic Church of the first thousand years, before the split between East and West! Originally it was named simply the Church, but later there was a split between Celtic and Christians who were less isolationist. The latter became known as Anglicans by the eighth century to differentiate between the two sides, It was about 200 yrs later that the two sides rejoined and the name has remained ever since naming the ancient catholic church in this country!

The Anglicans church started because some reformers believed the Anglican Church should reject Catholic beliefs and practices completely

With the instigation,[presumably,] of the Holy Ghost in sending missionaries from Jerusalem to Britain a very short time after the death of Christ!

It is as well to note that although there were reformers who wished the Anglican Church to reject Catholic practices, the Church did not do so in spite of strong pressures from protestants. She retained the ancient faith and rejected any innovations to change. As one of her Irish Bishops said, "If its new its protestant if its ancient it is Catholic!" [Rough Trans.}

The Anglican church, also known as the Church of England, was started by Henry VIII in the 1500s. Henry VIII decided to leave Catholicism and become head of his own church because the Pope would not grant him a divorce.

Henry VIII wanted a divorce. Being Roman Catholic, he was forbidden to commit such a sin against the sacrament of marriage. He solved this problem by beginning his own church - the Church of England/The Anglican Catholic Church. He appointed Thomas Cranmer as Archbishop (England's equivalent to the Roman Pope). Cranmer granted him an annulment (the constructed idea that the marriage was never fully realized) based upon the fact that Henry's wife was unable to produce a male child as heir to Henry's throne.

Priests of the Anglican Church "believe" they are a part of the same Apostolic Succession- from St. Peter - as the priests of the Roman Catholic Church - in spite of this obvious deviation from Roman Catholic Tradition (not that the RC tradition is any less "odd"; a political organization/tradition started by another political leader - The Roman Emperor Constantine).

Anglicanism is simply the Catholic Faith in England and was brought here by S.Simon Zelotes, at a very early time in Church history!

S.Simon being the brother of Christ I should imagine the Faith was brought here at the direction of the Holy Ghost!

The Anglican religion began as a Protestant church in England. Henry VIII had various disputes with the Catholic Pope and instituted the Church of England with himself as head.
