As a result of Columbus's voyages to the New World, a biological pipeline between America and Europe opened up that had been apart since before humans appeared on earth. The lands had drifted apart that had once been connected. Some species of plants and animals flourished in both areas, and some did not. There were many new animals and plants in the Americas that Europeans had never seen. And, Europeans brought plants and animals to the New World that America had never seen. This includes viruses and other biological organisms. The new animals brought to America upset the ecology of the area. The people living in the Americas did not have resistance to many of the "germs" brought by the Europeans. Biologically, the Indians had not been exposed to measles, smallpox, whooping cough, chicken pox, and influenza. The effect of these diseases on the Americans was catastrophic. Bacteria and viruses killed more Native Americans than did Spanish swords. The Indians also gave to the Europeans, venereal disease. Medical historians disagree on the origins of syphilis, but it was first identified by physicians in 1493, in Cadiz, Spain, the port which Columbus returned to after his first voyage. The Colombian Exchange was also a cultural exchange. New agricultural developments were traded, economic activity and opportunities opened up between the New and Old Worlds, and new ideas were exchanged.

Cusco (also written as "Cuzco") was the physical location of the capital of the pre-Columbian civilization known as the Inca Empire, which lasted from around the thirteen century to 1532. At the time of the Incas, it was split into two sections, the urin and the hanan, with each further divided into the various provinces.

What is pre-columbian time?

The Pre-Columbian time incorporates all period subdivisions in the history and prehistory of the Americas before the appearance of significant European influences on the American continents, spanning the time of the original settlement in the Upper Paleolithic period to European colonization during the Early Modern period. While the phrase Ppre-Columbian era" literally refers only to the time preceding Christopher Columbus's voyages of 1492, in practice the phrase usually is used to denote the entire history of American indigenous cultures until those cultures were conquered or significantly influenced by Europeans, even if this happened decades or centuries after Columbus's first landing. For this reason the alternative terms of Pre-Colonial Americas or Prehistoric Americas are also in use.

When the columbian exchange end?

The Columbian Exchange refers to the exchange of plants, animals, and diseases caused by contact between the Old World (Europe, Asia, and Africa) and the New World (the Americas). This biological exchange began with Columbus's arrival in 1492, and continued as Europeans continued to explore and come into contact with people, plants, and animals in other parts of the Americas that had not been exposed to European diseases, plants, and animals. An end date is harder to pinpoint. Since the Exchange refers to items that at one time had never been outside of their original hemisphere, once the biological elements that were once unique to their specific hemispheres had been introduced to the other, that exchange would assumedly be over.
