Sikhs have been in UK for over 100 years. I won't be able to give the exact year, but Sikhs had been in British India Army and had fought in the First World War and Second World War from British Side.

At the time of the British Empire, Sikhs lived in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. After the British Empire ended they gave land to Muslims(Pakistan) and Hindus(India). Since the Sikhs did not get their own land, they felt as they had no where to go, so they tagged along with Indian British people to England for a better life. Sikhs from Pakistan and Afghanistan moved to India because that's where the Golden Temple was(holiest Sikh shrine). Even though Sikhism is considered an Indian religion, it is technically founded in Pakistan, Nanakana Sahib.
