Also, the US felt threatened by Germany, who were the aggressors, and not only secretly violated American neutrality by asking Mexico to attack the US, but (according to the US at least) bombed numerous passenger ships (although there is some sound proof that the Lusitania was carrying weaponry to the Allies) killing quite a few American citizens. Then Germany promised to stop doing that, and kept doing it anyway. This caused American merchant shippers to throw their support behind the war, not to mention the Allies' Propaganda techniques in America.

the reason for this was because the us had to make sure that payments from the central powers were met(they had owed money to the us) after us joined, the selective service act recruited many soilders by draft and created a strong army. the us eventually wins the war and most of its battles with the allies and is seen as a world power after successful Imperialism
