President Roosevelt signed the Lend-Lease program, sending supplies and weapons over to the British ,such as the M3 Grant tank, the M4 Sherman tank, the Curtiss P-40 Warhawk just to name a few.The Americans also sent over some volunteer pilots to help the RAF fight the Luftwaffe during the battle of Britian(they formed the famous EAGLE SQUADRON).The weapons that the U.S.A. sent to the British were used to help throw out the German Afrika Korps out of Egypt and Libya using British and American lend-lease weapons(the Brits also used B-25 mitchell medium bombers) in the desert war.

Both Germany and Japan were OUT-PRODUCED by the US. For every warship, tank or airplane that they destroyed, the US replaced them with TEN MORE! Germany/Japan ran out of airplanes, ships, tanks, oil, ammunition, men and food; while the US had so much, we had to re-cycle them at the end of the war.

Your question assumes that Britain served a subsidiary role in the war. For a period after the fall of France in the Spring of 1940 until the Germans invaded Russia in the Fall, Great Britain stood alone among the allies against the might of Nazi tyranny. America did not enter the war until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in December of 1941.
