It took a lot longer to get out of depression because many of the fdr efforts were too much too big... plus he did not remove the policies that Hoover & previous presidents did. Combined, those things extended the period of the depression. If not for WWII many companies (including Sears & others) were serioulsy considering shutdown (WWII changed everything) Even IBM had pre-wwII considerations that changed. Doing too much stimulus or giveaways can only be offset by major increases in GDP or economic condtions (like us after WWII)... Without a real war, the only other way is to 'cut spending', dont raise taxes beyond reality, in fact- cut taxes if you cut spending, not overregulate. Or in deregulation - dont over do it.Making Fanny/Freddy able to do bad loans is what caused our current potental depression. YOu can specifically blame democratic congress (in control for 2 years) for it.
