How do you adjust timing chain on a 1990 sentra?
Slacken off the top bolt of the power steering pump, you need to remove the bracket that covers the adjuster. then using a suitable socket and spanner loosen the lock nut and adjust.Only tighten if you can hear the belt slipping and it looks in good condition, overtigten a worn belt and you you risk damaging bearings in the pump. You should be able to grab part of the belt between the PAS pump and the engine pulley, and twist it round 90 degrees as a rough guide.
I used this guide when I changed the clutch in my 97. http://www.miata.net/garage/clutch2.html
