You will need to remove the grill from your 2000 GMC Jimmy. With the grill removed. You can remove the hood latch retaining bolts. The hood will be released with the latch bolts removed.
Have you tried putting a screwdriver through the latch hole and pulling down on the screw driver (Imitating the opening movement of the latch) If that doesn't work you will need to remove the latch to release it.

hi please show how do i replace the Toyota seinna 2000 front handle door thanks Andy
I've had this problem with my '99. Try having someone push down on the hood (to reduce pressure on the latch) while you pull the hood release. You can also try pulling hard and fast on the release, but you risk breaking the plastic release handle. The "pull-hard" method was my solution- the handle took more abuse than I expected. If you get the hood open, grease the latch where it contacts the hood and try to run light oil down the cable. Mine was a combination of sticking latch and binding cable.
try looking up from underneth, look for cable running too latch try pulling on it . also have someone pull release inside as someone else pushs down on hood to get it to release
take a long thin screwdriver and stick it into the "hole" where the cable goes into the latch. Pry from right to left, this will pop the hood. I just had it happen to my 2000 Dakota.
REACH THROUGH THE GRILL WITH A SCREWDRIVER, THERE IS A SMALL NOTCH ON THE HOOD LATCH TWIST THE SCREWDRIVER IN THAT NOTCH REACH THROUGH THE GRILL WITH A SCREWDRIVER, THERE IS A SMALL NOTCH ON THE HOOD LATCH TWIST THE SCREWDRIVER IN THAT NOTCH
I need to repair the gear shift cable in side a 2000 toyota corolla. How do you get in side the gear shift box to repair the cable end?
The following link has instructions, diagrams and pictures showing how to make this repair easily and inexpensively: http://www.findonefindall.com/toyota-sienna/siennareardoor.htm
first you need GOOD flashlight and look carefully above kia emblem and see if you can release the main latch with a long screw driver.also look for the end of the broke cable, you "MIGHT" be able to pull it with a pair of channel locks and pop hood. Both have worked for me. If you get it open ,DO NOT SHUT IT!, get new cable and re-string.
Take it to the body shop as they have to open them after wrecks. You need to go to the Dealership and get a new cable. If you wish not to try and put it on. The people at the Dealership will do it for you. They are actually easy to put on.
