How do I get rid of acne I tried using soap day and night but it's still there Are there any other ideas?

Acne is a tough problem. I've suffered from it myself and still have occasional breakouts even now that I'm older. It is definitely worse during puberty, in the teen years, and sometimes into your early adult years. I would start by using a special acne soap--Neutrogena and other brands make some oil-free acne cleansers and soaps that you can buy at the drugstore. You should also get some salicylic acid cream or gel, which can also be easily found at a drug or discount store.

If these over-the-counter remedies don't help, you should see a dermatologist (a Doctor Who specializes in skin problems). A dermatologist can provide you with creams and other treatments,if necessary.

Here are a few things that I've done over the years that have worked for me, in addition to the above advice. Drink a lot of water. Drinking water is good for your health anyway, but you will see a difference in your skin. When I am fully hydrated, my skin is always clear. I do think that eating healthy foods as much as possible helps, too. Take a multivitamin daily. Also, make sure that your pillowcases and anything else that touches your face on a regular basis are clean. If you can afford it, a good facial can really help clean out your pores. Also, don't let your skin get too dry. It sounds strange, but if you dry out your skin TOO much, then it starts to overproduce oil, and that causes more acne. You want to maintain a good balance of not having overly oily skin yet not washing all of the oils away.
